- Fibrous Adhesive contains no asbestos, lead, mercury, or mercury compounds.
- Fibrous Adhesive meets requirements for LEED IEQ 4.1 Low-Emitting Materials, Adhesives and Sealants.
Applications & Uses
- Application Method
- Limitations
- Apply between 40°F and 100°F, protect from freezing until dry.
- Since the dry adhesive film is soluble in water, it should not be used where moisture will be encountered.
- Because of its sodium silicate base, this product is not recommended for use with glass fiber or other alkali sensitive insulations.
- Primed or painted metal surfaces should be tested for compatibility.
- If used between impermeable surfaces, drying time will be extended.
- Preparation and Application Information
Material Preparation
- Do Not Thin.
- Stir well, but do not use sticks or boards which would splinter or otherwise contaminate the product.
- Apply only to clean, dry, oil-free surfaces. Keep container closed when not in use.
Application
- Remove any dust from the surfaces to be bonded.
- To both surfaces of insulation apply a coat of Foster® Fibrous Adhesive by brush or trowel at a coverage of 25 to 40 sq. ft./gal. (.61 - .98 m2 /l).
- Allow an open time of 0 to 5 minutes to develop full tack.
- Place the adhered surfaces together, applying pressure to assure complete and uniform contact.
Brush
- Use a clean paintbrush and apply evenly at recommended coverage. Bond immediately with firm pressure.
Trowel
- Use steel trowel. Apply evenly at recommended coverage. Bond immediately with firm pressure.
Clean Up
- Clean brushes and equipment with water.
