Surface preparation

  • All surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from frost, grease, and loose materials.
  • When cleaning contaminated substrates, HS Butyl recommends using propan-2-ol (IPA) and allowing it to dry before applying the butyl tape.

Application

  • Apply directly from the reel onto one surface and press along its entire length to ensure good initial adhesion.
  • Remove the backing paper, position the other surface onto the butyl tape, and push firmly to seal across the joint.
Product Application
  • For use as a gap-filling sealant in body-in-white applications on vehicles.
  • For sealing a variety of joints in roofing and cladding systems.
  • For sealing joints in more aggressive environments, such as slurry tanks.
