Rakoll® ECO 3 ZF is an adhesive solution from H.B. Fuller that supports sustainability by providing customers with dependable adhesives that minimize hazardous emissions. The manufacturing of wood panels is subject to increasingly stringent certification standards, especially when it comes to the release of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as formaldehyde, which is now considered more hazardous than before. Rakoll® ECO 3 ZF helps our customers reach even more demanding panel classification standards and maintain the strong bonds typical of the Rakoll PVAc adhesives.

Chemical Family: Polyvinyl Acetates (PVA)

Application Method: Brush, Roller, Trowel

Compatible Substrates & Surfaces: Foils, Paper, Wood

Features: Excellent Bonding, Excellent Water Resistance, Fast Setting, Heat Resistance, Very Short Pressing Time

Ready-to-Use Product Features
Product Benefits
  • No formaldehyde content in the formulation
  • No formaldehyde released during the adhesive setting due to chemical reactions. Adhesive does not add formaldehyde to the total wood panel release of that substance
  • Lower machine corrosion than ordinary D3 adhesives, due to the softer acidic feature
  • High Initial strength and fast setting for better quality of the final product, with less defects
  • Less discoloration than typical D3 adhesives

Product Applications
  • Apply Rakoll® Eco 3 ZF thinly and evenly to one side or, if a high degree of water resistance is required, to both sides.
  • Lay the parts together within the open time and maintain the pressing pressure until the required initial strength is achieved.
  • The pressure should be high enough to achieve joint closure in the entire joint area (depending on the substrates used).
  • Woods containing resin require longer pressing times.
  • In accor- dance with the Quality Guidelines of i.f.t. Rosenheim, Laminated Profiles for Wooden Windows, the wood moisture content must be ( 13 ± 2) %.
  • The room tem- perature and the wood temperature must be at least 15 ℃.
  • Clean machines and utensils with water before the ad- hesive dries.

Compatibility Information

Due to the different composition of wood constituents, unpredictable discoloration may occur in individual cases with different types of wood. In addition, iron in combination with the tannic acid of the wood can cause color changes, especially in oak. We recom- mend carrying out your own tests. To avoid the risk of corrosion, we recommend using storage tanks, pipes and spreading equipment made of stainless steel or plastic (rigid PVC, polyethylene, polyester resin).
