Surface preparation
- All surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from frost, grease, and loose materials.
- When cleaning contaminated substrates, HS Butyl recommends using propan-2-ol (IPA) and allowing it to dry before applying the tape.
- Do not use white spirit or household cleaners, as they can leave a residue that prevents the bath trim from bonding to the wall, bath, or worktop.
Application
- Cut a strip long enough for the joint to be sealed.
- Fold the tape along the hinge.
- If joining at wall corners, cut a triangle off the horizontal piece at a 45° angle where the join will be made.
- Remove the release film in short lengths and apply the tape to the joint, ensuring the hinge is placed right into the back of the joint.
- When the vertical and horizontal sides bond to their respective surfaces, they should lie flat against them.
- Ensure proper placement, as improper positioning may affect adhesion to one or both surfaces.
- Once in place, press the tape down firmly along its length to ensure good adhesion.
- Product Application
-
For sealing around baths, sinks and worktops to prevent water ingress.
