Surface preparation
- All surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from frost, grease, and loose materials.
- When cleaning contaminated substrates, HS Butyl recommends using propan-2-ol (IPA) and allowing it to dry before applying the butyl tape.
Application
- Remove the backing paper and press the exposed butyl onto the substrate.
- Press firmly into place.
- Use a roller with firm pressure to roll the joint and ensure a good bond.
- Product Application

For taping over joins in membranes used in building and construction, for example damp proof membranes and vapour control layers, as an additional seal to Membrane Tape or High Performance Membrane Tape.
