Surface preparation
- All surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from frost, grease, and loose materials.
- When cleaning contaminated substrates, HS Butyl recommends using propan-2-ol (IPA) and allowing it to dry before applying the butyl tape.
- When applying the tape to porous or friable surfaces, it is recommended to treat the surface with a suitable primer, such as an exterior grade PVA, to seal and stabilise the surface.
Application
- Remove the release paper and apply the tape to the substrates to be joined.
- Take care to avoid rucks in the tape.
- Roll the tape with a small roller to ensure good adhesion along the whole length of the tape.
- Product Application

- For sealing floor-to-wall joints and around drains in wet rooms.
