Surface preparation
- All surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from frost, grease, and loose materials.
- When cleaning contaminated substrates, HS Butyl recommends using propan-2-ol (IPA) and allowing it to dry before applying the butyl tape.
Application
- Apply directly from the reel onto one surface and press along its entire length to ensure good initial adhesion.
- Overlap the tape ends to ensure a good seal and compress.
- Remove the backing paper, position the other surface onto the sealant, and push firmly to seal across the joint.
- Spacers may be inserted into the tape to prevent over-compression.
- Product Application
-
Sealing concrete caisson rings, box culverts, manhole sections.
